Using Recipes
Use Cooking Mode and Cook Assist
Follow a recipe from a kitchen-friendly screen, manage timers, and ask hands-free questions.
Cooking Mode presents ingredients and one current instruction in a tablet-friendly workspace. It honors the servings, unit system, and baking display selected on the recipe detail page.
Start Cooking Mode
- Open a recipe and select the servings or display units you intend to use.
- Select Cook.
- Check ingredients as you prepare them.
- Use Previous and Next to move between instructions.
- Add timers from the Timers section, or ask Cook Assist to create them.
Screen awake requests the browser's wake lock and shows whether it is active. Browser and device support varies; iPadOS may ignore the request.
Use Cook Assist
- Select Cook Assist.
- Start the voice session and grant microphone access when prompted.
- Ask about the recipe, current instruction, substitutions, technique, scaling, or timers.
- Select End voice when the cooking session is finished.
Cook Assist receives the recipe, current instruction, selected scale, and active timers. You do not need to repeat that context in every question. It can move between steps and manage timers through Viandly's bounded cooking tools rather than directly changing recipe data.
