Manage your plan and billing
Compare Viandly plans, understand beta access, and manage a paid subscription.

Understand the access labels
- Free includes up to 200 retained recipes.
- Viandly Plus includes up to 5,000 retained recipes, 1 GiB of hosted image storage, cookbook publishing, and scanner receiving.
- Subscription means paid access was verified by the payment service.
- Administrator grant provides expanded access without changing payment-service history.
- Beta access can temporarily provide an individual feature while the account remains on the free plan. It is never presented as a paid subscription.
Your own AI provider remains separate. Viandly does not include AI provider charges in either plan. Recipes in Recently Deleted continue to use a slot until restored or permanently removed.
Upgrade securely
When subscriptions are open, choose monthly or annual billing on Plan & billing. Viandly opens a secure, hosted checkout session; Viandly never receives or stores your complete card number.
Returning from checkout does not grant access by itself. Viandly waits for verified payment state and reconciles it in the background.
Manage an existing subscription
Select Manage subscription to open the secure billing portal. The portal provides payment-method, invoice, receipt, and cancellation controls. A scheduled cancellation preserves all paid features through the displayed paid-through date.
Capacity and payment recovery
Recipe limits are checked transactionally, including imports and background-created drafts, so concurrent work cannot exceed the effective account capacity. Existing content is not deleted when a limit is reached.
If a renewal payment temporarily fails, Viandly preserves paid capabilities while the payment service performs its configured recovery attempts.
Move from Plus to Free
If paid access ends after cancellation or unsuccessful payment recovery, Viandly retains the complete paid library for a 30-day downgrade grace period. The library becomes read-only while you decide what to keep active:
- Open Recipes to see both free-library and retained paid-library recipes.
- Select a recipe marked Paid library.
- Choose Add to free library to use one of the 200 free recipe slots.
- Repeat for the recipes you want to keep available without a subscription.
Opening a retained recipe does not select it automatically. Until selected, its ingredients, instructions, images, notes, cook mode, print view, and share links remain unavailable. Existing shopping-list rows and cookbook snapshots are preserved because they were already materialized before downgrade.
During grace, Plan & billing shows the deadline, downgrade reason, selected count, retained count, and remaining free slots. You can also resume paid access or export the complete account. Resuming paid access restores the retained library immediately; recipes already selected for the free library keep that durable status if a later downgrade occurs.
After downgrade grace
When the 30-day grace period ends, Viandly creates a private cold archive for recipes you did not select for the free library. It includes each recipe and its original images. Viandly reads back and verifies every archived item before removing that content from the active recipe database and live image storage.
After verification and compaction:
- your selected free-library recipes remain fully usable;
- Plan & billing shows the cold archive size, recipe and image counts, and retention deadline;
- Archived recipes provides a searchable catalog by title, author, and source; and
- ingredient, instruction, description, and note searches cover only active recipes.
The catalog deliberately displays identification details rather than complete archived recipe content. Archived recipes are retained for 12 months from the date paid access ended.
Restore an archived recipe on Free
Open Archived recipes and choose Restore recipe beside the item you want. Restoration:
- uses one available free-library recipe slot;
- verifies the archived recipe and every original image before making the recipe visible;
- recreates image sizes used by the recipe library and detail pages;
- restores the recipe as private; and
- reconnects same-account collections, recipe references, and surviving source records when they still exist.
A restored recipe remains in the catalog's Restored history. Restoration cannot exchange one free-library recipe for another. Permanently deleting an active recipe is what frees a slot.
Restore the complete library on Plus
When verified paid access returns, Viandly starts a complete background restoration automatically. Plan & billing shows its progress. Successfully restored recipes become available in bounded batches, and interrupted work resumes without recreating recipes that already succeeded.
Former public visibility and private share links are not recreated. Restored recipes are private so you can deliberately review their sharing settings.
Download a retained library
Open Account Settings, then Data & recovery to request a retained-library export. Viandly builds a standard, schema-backed account archive containing the retained recipes, original images, portable relationships, and checksums. Authentication, passkeys, AI credentials, billing records, roles, entitlements, and share-link secrets are excluded.
The generated download requires your signed-in account, expires after 24 hours, and does not change or restore the retained library. You can import the archive into a clean Viandly account through the normal account-archive import workflow.
Expiration notices and permanent deletion
Viandly attempts a notice when the cold archive is created, 30 days before its deadline, and 7 days before its deadline. Notices go to the verified primary email address on the account. Plan & billing always shows the authoritative deadline, current countdown, and latest notice status, so an unavailable mailbox does not hide the retention schedule.
Before the deadline, you can restore individual recipes into available Free slots, resume Plus to restore the complete retained library, or create a portable download. A download already being prepared is allowed to finish and remains available for its normal 24-hour lifetime.
After the deadline, Viandly claims the archive for permanent deletion. Deletion runs in restartable background batches. Once it starts, new restore and download requests cannot enter. The archived recipe catalog, recipe documents, original archived images, and storage inventory are removed. Recipes already restored to the active free library and the account itself remain available.
