Collections And Planning
Organize recipes with collections
Create private recipe groups for projects, occasions, people, and personal filing systems.
Collections are private filing groups that help you keep related recipes together. A collection can represent a holiday, person, cuisine, project, menu, family tradition, or any other grouping that is useful to you.
Create a collection
Open Collections, enter a name and optional description, then select Create collection.
Choose names that will remain meaningful as your library grows, such as Thanksgiving,
Weeknight dinners, or Grandma Alice.
Creating a collection does not move or duplicate any recipes. It creates an empty group that you can fill from recipe detail pages.
Add a recipe
Open a recipe you own and expand the Collections panel near the bottom of its detail page. Choose an available collection and select Add.
A recipe can belong to any number of collections. Adding it to several collections still leaves one recipe in your library, so edits to that recipe appear everywhere it is collected.
You can also create a collection from the recipe's Collections panel. Viandly creates the collection and adds the current recipe to it in one step.
Browse and edit a collection
Open Collections and select a collection name to see its recipes. Use Edit collection to change the collection name or description.
Recipe cards inside a collection open the normal recipe detail page. Collection membership does not change recipe visibility and does not grant another person access to a private recipe.
Remove recipes or delete a collection
To remove one recipe, open that recipe's Collections panel and select Remove beside the collection.
Deleting a collection removes only the filing group and its membership records. It does not delete the recipes that were in it.
