Use New Recipe when you want to write a recipe directly instead of importing a source.

Get help from AI

Select Get help from AI when you want assistance turning an idea or partial recipe into a complete structured draft. Describe what you want to make, along with any ingredients, serving goal, dietary constraints, equipment, or technique that matters. The assistant also receives any recipe fields you have already entered.

The first response creates a private development draft that you can continue editing. You can ask follow-up questions or request changes from the same editor. Follow-up changes appear as a proposal before they replace the current draft:

• Select Apply proposal to put the proposed fields into the editor.
• Select Keep current draft to retain your existing fields.
• Edit the structured fields yourself at any point.

To troubleshoot a recipe you already saved, open that recipe and select Develop. Describe the problem or desired outcome. Viandly can propose a revised recipe without changing the original, or you can keep a concise summary in your personal recipe notes.

Add ingredients as you would write them

In each ingredient section, enter a complete ingredient line:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted

Select Add, or press Enter. You can also paste several ingredient lines at once. Use Shift+Enter when you want to type multiple lines before adding them.

Viandly retains the line you wrote and interprets its amount, unit, ingredient name, preparation, and note. This structure supports recipe scaling, unit conversion, shopping lists, and baking formulas.

Review an interpretation

Most familiar lines are ready immediately. Viandly labels unusual lines in one of two ways:

• As written means the line is intentionally unmeasured, such as salt and pepper, to taste.
• Review means a quantity or unit may not support reliable scaling or conversion.

Open an ingredient's details to inspect or correct the separate amount, unit, ingredient, preparation, and note fields. Correcting those fields updates the natural line. A recipe with a review item can still be saved; Viandly leaves that line unchanged during calculations it cannot perform safely.

Add ingredient sections

Select Add ingredient section for separate components such as dough, filling, frosting, or sauce. You can also paste a list with explicit headings:

For the dough:
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt

Filling:
2 apples, sliced

Viandly creates the named sections and keeps their order. Open an ingredient's details when one section uses another prepared component, such as dough using a poolish.

Save intentionally

Only the explicit recipe action saves the whole form:

• Create recipe saves ordinary manual entry.
• Save changes updates an existing recipe.
• Save as private recipe converts an import draft.
• Save draft progress preserves an import or development draft without creating a recipe.

Pressing Enter in a single-line recipe field moves to the next editable field instead of saving the form. Enter creates a new line in descriptions, instructions, attribution notes, and recipe notes. The ingredient composer is the exception: Enter selects Add, while Shift+Enter inserts another line into the composer.

Preserve imported evidence

When you edit an imported recipe, changing an ingredient does not rewrite the retained original source. The source remains available beside the editor when Viandly has a converted import draft or scanner evidence for that recipe.
