Using Recipes
Find and manage recipes
Search your library, understand recipe actions, and choose the right way to add or revise a recipe.
Recipes is your saved private library. Use New Recipe to write or develop a recipe, Import to capture an existing source, and Recently Deleted to recover or permanently remove recipes you deleted.
Search the library
The main search field looks across recipe titles, sources, ingredients, instructions, and notes. Results update shortly after you stop typing. Select the clear control at the right end of the field to restore the unfiltered library.
Open Filters when you need a narrower result:
- require or exclude ingredients;
- match tags, authors, or source names;
- choose private or public recipes;
- filter by rating, image availability, or cleanup status;
- limit preparation, cooking, or total time.
Active filters appear below the search controls. Select an individual filter to remove it, or select Clear filters to start over. Sorting and pagination preserve the current filters.
Choose how to add a recipe
- New Recipe opens the normal recipe editor. Enter the recipe yourself or expand Get help from AI to develop one from an idea or partial draft.
- Import is for an existing website, document, pasted recipe, photograph, or scanner delivery. Imported material remains in Inbox until you review and save it.
These paths meet at the same structured recipe fields. Import retains source evidence; ordinary manual entry does not create import history.
Use the recipe detail actions
Open a recipe card to view the recipe. Depending on ownership and account features, its action row can include:
- Cook for step-by-step cooking mode;
- Print for the current serving scale and unit display;
- Share for private expiring links;
- Add to list for an existing or new shopping list;
- Develop to troubleshoot the recipe with AI;
- Publish or Unpublish to control public URL access;
- Edit to change the saved recipe;
- Delete to move it to Recently Deleted.
Scaling or changing display units does not edit the stored recipe. Those settings carry into Cook and Print while they remain in the recipe URL.
Recover a deleted recipe
Deleting a recipe ends public and private-link access immediately and moves the recipe to Recently Deleted. Restore it there if the deletion was accidental. Permanently removing it also removes retained converted import history and schedules recipe-owned images for storage cleanup.
